Shamen wins Toastmasters Table Topics Championship
View(s):Shamen Sameera was the winner of the Table Topics Championship at Toastmasters International’s 2025 Ovation District Conference, held by District 82, which includes Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and the British Indian Ocean Territory.

This victory marks his third major Toastmasters title, making him the first Lankan to win the Humorous, Evaluations and Table Topics speech contests in 4 premier contests organised at the district level, placing him among the top speakers in the global Toastmasters community.
His major breakthrough came in 2017, when he won the Humorous Speech Contest in Chennai, India. With the latest Table Topics title under his belt, he now holds a trio of victories while he also holds the title of District Finalist at the International Speech Contest 2025.
“Every stage I’ve stepped onto, every contest I’ve entered, has taught me something new not just about speaking, but about resilience,” Sameera said.
Sameera is Head of Business Strategy at AIA Insurance. He has an MBA from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a First-Class BBA in Marketing from the University of Colombo.
