British-Lankan cardiologist invited to chair European Cardiology Summit Session
View(s):British Sri Lankan Cardiologist, Dr Yanushi Dullewe Wijeyeratne, who is a Clinical Lecturer at City St George’s, University of London and St George’s Hospital London, was recently honoured with an invitation to serve as a Session Chair at the EHRA Young EP Summit 2025 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This pan-European Summit, organised by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) brought together emerging leaders in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology — the study and treatment of irregular heartbeats.
EHRA is one of the key branches of the European Society of Cardiology, dedicated to improving care for patients with heart rhythm problems. Through education, research, and clinical guidelines, EHRA helps improve how doctors diagnose and treat conditions like atrial fibrillation and other complex problems that affect the heart’s natural electrical signals.

The Young EP Summit is a key annual EHRA meeting focussed on the next generation of specialists in this complex field — Cardiologists who diagnose and treat irregular heartbeats.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with colleagues from across Europe and beyond,” Dr Wijeyeratne said. “The Young EP Summit plays a crucial role in nurturing new talent and ideas that will ultimately benefit patients with heart rhythm disorders.”
Dr Wijeyeratne, is the sole UK representative on the EHRA Young Electrophysiologists Committee.
