Trinity beat Thomians to lead Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy Golf series
Trinity College produced a commanding performance to defeat S. Thomas’ College by 28 points in the 2025 edition of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy Golf Tournament, held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.
In wet and testing conditions that demanded precision, patience, and adaptability, Trinity’s golfers rose to the occasion, recording a total Stableford score of 325 against S. Thomas’ 297. The emphatic win sealed the series 2-1 in Trinity’s favour, marking a significant milestone in the friendly rivalry between the two leading schools since 2022.

Hemanga Karunasena was the standout performer for Trinity, posting an impressive 40 points. For S. Thomas’, Janith Akmeemana led the charge with a solid 37-point effort in a match that saw commendable skill and sportsmanship on both sides. Despite the damp and slippery fairways, Trinity’s blend of youthful talent and experienced players proved decisive. The team adapted well to the conditions, showing consistency and composure across the board.
The awards presentation ceremony was graced by the presence of Mrs. Suganthi Kadirgamar, who commended both schools for honouring the spirit and legacy of the late Lakshman Kadirgamar through competitive yet respectful play. Her presence added a poignant significance to the event, reflecting the values of integrity and unity that the trophy represents. The tournament concluded with warm applause and a shared meal, as players, alumni, and supporters celebrated a memorable day of golf, marked by tradition, respect, and the enduring bond between Trinity and
