Govt. readies to unveil Nation Branding campaign
The government is gearing up to launch a Nation Branding tourism campaign, to be unveiled at the end of the month. The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has been preparing to launch a global promotion, over several months, targeting a number of key markets that will be able to cater to visitors targeting the winter season.
The announcement from SLTPB states that a number of key government and private sector stakeholders, tourism officials will showcase the current developments in the industry.
The government was planning on carrying out a soft launch of the global promotion soon after the Sinhala New Year and the promotions itself expected to kick off by the end of April. The present government has been involved in reviewing the promotion campaign that was planned and set to be launched just before the Presidential election last year.
The campaign was readied to be launched but with the government changing hands the new administration took upon itself to ensure this will become a Nation Branding initiative as opposed to simply investing in a destination promotion push solely for tourism.
