Gunmen fire at ex-Lotteries Board director, seize file
View(s):Two unidentified gunmen opened fire at a vehicle in which former National Lotteries Board Director Thusitha Halloluwa was travelling with his lawyer in Narahenpita last night and grabbed a file of documents, Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddika Manathunga said.
However, no injuries were reported, but the vehicle’s windscreen was damaged.
Two gunmen had blocked the vehicle before opening fire, SSP Manathunga said, adding that the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has taken over the investigation.

A police officer at the scene said that according to eyewitness reports, three persons were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Mr Halloluwa was recently granted bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court in a case where he was charged with the alleged misuse of a computer and a mobile phone issued to him during his tenure as Acting Director of the National Lotteries Board (NLB).
He was released on two surety bails of Rs. 200,000 each. The court also imposed an overseas travel ban on him.
Mr. Halloluwa served in several ministries earlier. He was also the public relations officer of former president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
