At the age of 14 years Nethula Edirimanne, born on May 10 of 2008, is a budding cricketer of great promise. He is attending Ananda College Colombo and turning out for SSC Colombo as well. He started playing cricket at the age of nine, in the year 2022 playing in the Under-15 Division I Cricket Tournament.

He was the highest run scorer and the best batsman of the competition. In eight innings Nethula scored three centuries and two half centuries to tally 578 runs at an average of 96.33 and a strike rate of 78.21.

In the first match against Asoka Vidyalaya he hit 57 runs to earn the player of the match award, and his form continued with an elegant 150 against C.W.W. Kannangara MV. In the third match he scored an unbeaten 101 against St. Joseph’s College Colombo before slamming 75 runs against Devapathiraja MV, Rathgama in his fourth straight outing. He followed his form with another knock of 124 not out against Prince of Wales College Moratuwa.

In the Nelson Mendis Under-15 Club Tournament 2022, he represented SSC Colombo and was adjudged the best batsman, having scored 247 runs in four innings with a strike rate of 108.81.

In the first game he cracked 50 against K.G.A. Cricket Academy at Irrigation ground in Ratmalana and made 81 runs in his second outing against Bloomfield Cricket Academy at Pliyandala Central grounds. Against Mathews Cricket Academy at the CMS ground in Kotte, he stroke 98 runs in the third game, showing potential of a bright cricketing future.
