“Developing your soft skills is of paramount importance”

The Prize-Giving of Convent of Our Lady of Victories Moratuwa was held on 12th September 2019 and Prof. Mrs. Jean Perera, Chair Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

She is a distinguished past pupil of the school and in her address she took a stroll down memory lane, recalled her school days and praised her Alma Mater for her upbringing.

She appreciated the initiative, the school has taken in developing the soft skills of its students. She emphasised the importance of learning with happiness. She urged the students to find out the most effective learning style that would help them and to help the others in their studies.

The Principal, Rev. Sr. Chamila Ann Fernando stressed the importance of learning in order to lead a happy life while presenting the annual report of the school. In her address she quoted the Bible to point out Jesus’ words.

“I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness”. (John 10 : 10). The prize- giving was themed “Education is life” and she said that educators are duty bound to influence students to love what they do and find joy and happiness in learning and life.

The proceedings ended with a variety entertainment presented by the students.
