Guidelines for foreign students’ admission to Private universities

The Ministry of Higher Education & Home Affairs will soon submit a joint Cabinet paper to streamline guidelines for the admission of foreign students into non-state highter educational  institutes.

Accordingly, foreign students will have to submit proof of a guarantee of US$ 2,500  per year, to ensure  they have funds to cover their expenses.

They would also have to have a Health Insurance and a separate Health Certificate, clearance from AIDS and other diseases.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, in charge of Non-State university sector, K.R. Uduwawala said this was a long felt need to streamline the process and discussions were held with relevant  ministres and stake holders before the proces was finlised.
