IIT takes on SLIIT

With 50 universities signed up to take part in the Inter-University Esports Championship, which  was held on June 15 and 16 – the largest University-level sporting event in Sri Lanka organised by Gamer.LK and powered by Sri Lanka Telecom. The qualifiers crowned the best Esporting universities in the country over a period of two days at Stein Studios. IIT and SLIIT qualified for the grand finals after placing top amongst video-game titles that were played at the event.

The Grand Final was held on Saturday at Stein Studios from 10.00am onwards, with a full-day of activities, musical entertainment, give-aways and nail biting Esports action as the two universities battle it out across four titles to take home the Inter-University Esports Championship trophy – a custom crafted Esports trophy worthy of a place on any awards cabinet. The four selected titles are Call of Duty, DOTA 2, Mario Kart (women’s) and PUBG Mobile, with FIFA 19 being played as the tie-breaker.

This year’s championship was powered by Sri Lanka Telecom, who comes onboard as the title partner for the event. All games and live streams were run via super-fast SLT Fibre connectivity allowing low latency, lagless gameplay and streaming. Sri Lanka Telecom has been at the forefront of empowering digital entertainment and Esports in Sri Lanka with product offerings catering to gamers in the country.

A trusted brand in the technology sector, DELL was the gaming Laptop partner for the event. DELL is delving into the gaming space with their DELL Gaming line of Laptops – premium design with thin bezels and lightweight for portability. These machines have unrivaled power with gaming-grade internals that will pump out fluid graphics with even the most demanding games thrown at them.

Red Bull came onboard as the official Energy Drink partner – giving wiiings to the gamers’ Esports sessions and facilitating performance at the next level. Red Bull will revealed an energy buzzer at the grand finals which allows gamers and spectators were given the opportunity to win free Red Bull for all present at the finals.

Samsung joined as the Mobile gaming partner featuring the Galaxy A80, the World’s first Rotating Triple Camera with 48 Megapixels. The Galaxy A80 boasts a superior rotating triple camera setup which gives users the same high resolution on both front and rear. It is equipped with a new infinity display which provides uninterrupted viewing so users can enjoy their favourite movies, games and videos. Samsung gave away a brand new galaxy A80 at the Grand Finals to one lucky winner of its Facebook competition.

FriMi came onboard as the official Digital Banking partner for the event. Ticket and food purchases at the venue are seamless with the FriMi app, along with great cashback offers for all participants paying using FriMi. Enabling today’s youth with an end to end digital experience, from opening their primary banking account to handling all their day to day financial transactions, payments and money management all on their mobile phone.

Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were the official food partners at the event, keeping hungry gamers fed and satisfied with food stalls situated inside the tournament premises. Scope Cinemas was the Cinema partner and Atom Media was digital signage partner for the event.
