The Ministry of Education (MoE) is to introduce a system to develop 3,500 Primary schools to equal status to ensure they have the same facilities.

Accordingly, 1,000 schools will be developed this year and rest by the end of next year, according to Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

He said that the objective would be, if 2 schools are selected from the same zone, they will have identical facilities, which will reduce the competition for National schools, as the other schools will also have similar facilities.

The required number of teachers too will be provided.

The school can request for funds for its development. – DW
