View(s):Allied Gemmological Institute & Laboratory (AGIL) is the Accredited Centre in Sri Lanka, under ATC global network of Gem-A (the Gemmological Association of Great Britain) which was established in 1999 by Dayananda Dillimuni, a Consultant Gemmologist, which provides facilities for anyone who needs to study in gemmology leading to become an internationally accredited gemmologist. Under the world-wide Accredited Teaching Centre network of Gem-A, Gemmology is taught in 17 countries of the World through 39 ATCs.

In Sri Lanka, the Gemmology Courses of Gem-A are being conducted at AGIL, which are to be completed in two units- Foundation and the Diploma levels. The next intake for the Foundation course has been commenced and new classes will be started in the 3rd week of July, 2019.
Graduating from Gem-A with Diploma in Gemmology of Gem-A and obtaining FGA benefits any one to find employment related to gemstone industry and trade anywhere in the world.
A new Gem Identification Course to teach basics of gemmology by theoretical and practical understanding of gemstones . It has also has been introduced at AGIL. It has been planed as the doorstep to enter into the Foundation Course in Gemmology and continue to complete the Diploma in Gemmology of Gem-A at this institute.
Schedule of the courses:
- Gemstone Identification Course of AGIL – Start from the 3rd week of July, 2019
- Every Saturday from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm for 3 months.
- Foundation in Gemmology of Gem-A – Start from 3rd week of July 2019
- Every Saturday from 8.30 am to 2.00 pm for 6 months.
- Intake for Gem-A courses from 2nd week of July, 2019.
- Diploma in Gemmology – Start from the 3rd week of July,2019
- Every Friday from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm
- Intake for Gem-A courses from 2nd week of July, 2019.
