Isipathana College and Royal College recorded smashing wins in contrasting styles while Wesley College claimed a deserving win in three second round games of Singer Schools Under-20 League Rugby Championship yesterday.

At Havelock Park Isipathana ran away with a inspiring 41-21 win against S. Thomas’ College after leading 19-14 at halftime. Isipathana scored from seven tries and three conversions while the Thomians responded with three converted tries.

Royal ran amok against Zahira College at Maradana with a heavy 65-14 win, after dominating from the first whistle. Royal led 32-0 at halftime and scored from 11 tries and five conversions. Zahira’s performance was appalling in the first half but regrouped to score two converted tries, both in the second half.

Wesley recorded a thrilling 26-14 win against St. Peter’s College at Longdon Place, after leading by 19-6 at halftime. Wesley scored from four tries and three conversions while the Peterites were in pursuit till the final whistle trailing 14-19, before ending off with an unconverted try and three penalties.
