Six Junior Athletes for Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas

T he Athletics Association of Sri Lanka has decided to send four boys and two girls for the Sixth Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in the Bahamas from July 16 to 25. Seventy-two Commonwealth countries will take part in these Games. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) has been entrusted to send the team. The NOC has decided to send athletes for six sports. They are: Athletics, Rugby Sevens,Tennis, Boxing, Judo and Swimming. The athletics team was selected two weeks ago at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex at the 55th Junior Nationals Athletics Championships. The Sri Lanka Athletics team: Navodya Sankalpa (400 M Hurdles - Mahinda College Galle), Ravishka Indrajit (400 M - St. Benedict’s College Kotahena), Shehan Kariyawasam (110 M Hurdles - St. Joseph’s College Colombo, Promodh Madubash (Long Jump - Maris Stella College Negombo), Sachini Diyangali (100 and 200 M - Lyceum Wattala), U.K.C.R.Bandara (400 M - St.Joseph’s Vaz Balika Kegalle). - SP

The Athletics Association of Sri Lanka has decided to send four boys and two girls for the Sixth Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in the Bahamas from July 16 to 25.

Seventy-two Commonwealth countries will take part in these Games. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) has been entrusted to send the team. The NOC has decided to send athletes for six sports. They are: Athletics, Rugby Sevens,Tennis, Boxing, Judo and Swimming.

The athletics team was selected two weeks ago at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex at the 55th Junior Nationals Athletics Championships.

The Sri Lanka Athletics team: Navodya Sankalpa (400 M Hurdles – Mahinda College Galle), Ravishka Indrajit (400 M – St. Benedict’s College Kotahena), Shehan Kariyawasam (110 M Hurdles – St. Joseph’s College Colombo, Promodh Madubash (Long Jump – Maris Stella College Negombo), Sachini Diyangali (100 and 200 M – Lyceum Wattala), U.K.C.R.Bandara (400 M – St.Joseph’s Vaz Balika Kegalle).
