Ramada Colombo emerged as the new Men’s Team Championship winner of the Travel Trade Sports Carrom Championships 2015, at the 3rd Tournament held at the Galadari Hotel ‘Tulip’ PDR, last Saturday. In the Men’s team Championship where 11 teams participated, Ramada Colombo dethroned the 2013 and 2014 winners, Mt. Lavinia Hotel in the semi-finals and went on to beat Sri Lankan Airlines in the Final 3/0.

In the women’s singles with twenty participants, the new winner was Shereen Pietersz from George Steuarts Travels, who beat L.D. Dehani from Sri Lankan Airlines 10/07 in the final. In the play off for the 3rd place, Nimanthi Kodituwakku (Mt. Lavinia Hotel) beat Niluka Damayanthi (The Sands Waskaduwa.)

With nine participants in the women’s doubles, Mt. Lavinia Hotel managed to retain the title via Nimanthi Kodituwakku and L.D. Dehani, beating G.H. S Priyadarshani and Irandi M. Pathirana, Sri Lankan Airlines 25/01.

The Ramada Colombo team comprised of W.S.P.F. Jayasuriya, R.P.S. Pradeep Kumara, Amila Samayawardena, J.K. Gamage, S.H. D.L. de Silva and R.M.T. Jayalath.

The tournament was conducted by a team from Sri Lanka Carrom Federation, headed by Rohini Mathiasz and was Co-Sponsored by Galadari Hotel for the 3rd year in succession.
