MCA Veterans win Over-45 6s

MCA Veterans, led by the MCA Centenary President, Mahesh Wijewardene won the fifth Lanka Cavaliers Invitational Over – 45 Six-a-side Cricket Tournament 2015 for the first time, beating the Olcott Team in the Final, at the MCA Grounds, last Sunday.
MCA beat Colts in the quarter-finals and beat the Police in the Semi-Finals while Olcott’s beat Navy in the semi-finals.
Final: Olcott 68/5 (5) (H. Premasiri 40, Duminda Wickramasinghe 17, Roshan Iddamalgoda 1/3) lost to MCA 72/4 (4) (Sujith Sirimanne 46 not out, Ishaq Sahabdeen 16)
Special Awards:
Best Batsman: H. Premasiri (Olcott)
Best Bowler: Roshan Iddamalgoda (MCA)
Best Fielder: Ravindra Wimalasiri (Police)
Most Senior Player: Daya Sirisena (Old Bens)
Man of the Final: Sujith Sirimanne (MCA)
The MCA Team comprised of Mahesh Wijewardene (Captain) and Sujith Sirimanne (both from Singer), Gamini Wickramasinghe (President /MCA from HNB), Ishak Sahabdeen (Glaxo SmithKline), Roshan Iddamalgoda (Vice President/MCA from Media Vision) and Niran Mahawatte (Vice President/MCA from NDB Bank) .
It is recalled that Mahesh Wijewardene and Sujith Sirimanne were instrumental in winning the MCA Over-40 ‘Sixes’ for Singer Sri Lanka recently. - LR
