Moors SC and NCC recorded outright wins with a day to spare when they crushed CCC and SLPA CC by an innings in the Under 23 Division One cricket matches played at the CCC and NCC grounds.

It was a pathetic batting performance put in by CCC as they were unable to last one day of batting being bowled out twice. CCC made to follow on with a deficit of 193 runs to erase fared no better as they lasted only 39.5 overs and were bowled out for 171. It was Shehan who ended with a match bag of eight wickets along with Pradeep and Ruvinda Shamen who did the damage to give them an innings and 22 runs win.

It was almost the same story in the match between NCC and SLPA CC in the match played at the NCC ground on the second day as the right and left spin combination of Tharindu Kaushal and Saveen Nanayakkara doing the damage.

The duo laid the foundation for their innings and ten runs victory sharing seven wickets in the first innings to bowl out SLPA CC resuming on their overnight score of 39 for 5 for a paltry 87 in reply to NCC’s 313.

Made to follow on with first having to erase the 226 runs they failed to achieve that being able to muster only 216 runs falling short by ten runs to avoid an innings defeat.

A valuable fourth wicket partnership of 140 between Damith Priyadharshana and Charith Kumarasinghe supported by Thilaksha Sumanasiri helped Bloomfield take a first inning lead against Tamil Union at the end of the second day’s play in the match played at Reid Avenue.

Bloomfield resuming on their overnight score of 77 for 3 went on to make 265 in reply to Tamil Unions 248.

Air Force batting the second was badly placed on 101 for 4 needing another 101 runs to avoid an innings defeat when play begins on the final day today.
