The Triumvirate 2013, the inaugural triangular rowing regatta featuring Gateway International, Asian International School and Bishop’s College, will conquer the waters of Beira Lake at the Colombo Rowing Club from 2.00pm today.

The regatta, organised by Gateway International under the direction of its Deputy Chairman, Dr. Harsha Alles, will be the first of its kind where three institutions, two international and a private girls’ school, will competing in a friendly atmosphere. It will also be the first event to feature girls and boys competing in a friendly inter-school regatta.

The initiative, according to sources close to the organising committee, was spearheaded by Dr. Alles who first convinced Asian International School to enter the competition before two months later the third school, Bishop’s College, confirmed their participation. The event’s organisers hope to continue the regatta on an annual basis. The regatta will feature eight events altogether which include two single sculls, a double scull and a boat race each in the boys’ and girls’ segments. The Triumvirate 2013 is sponsored by Airtel.
