St. Joseph’s College defeated Colombo International School by 59 points to 49 and emerged Under 19 Colombo North Zone basketball champions in the final, which was played at the D.S. Senanayake court on Thursday.

At halftime the Josephians led by 25 points to 19.

For the winners, Brendon Keyzer top scored with 16 points, while Mayantha Annesley added 11.

For CIS Jitendra De Silva 19 points, Thulhara Dharmadasa 12 and Onello Gilbet 11 were the best shooters..

Brendon Keyzer and Pruthivi Fernando of St. Joseph’s were adjudged the Most Valuable and Best Defensive Players respectively, while Jitendra De Silva of CIS was the Best Offensive Player. (BM)

Gateway win consolation clash

Gateway College, Rajagiriya defeated D.S. Senanayake by 70 points to 50 and win the consolation final of the boys’ Under 19 Colombo North Zone basketball tournament, which was played at the latter’s court on Thursday.

At the short whistle Gateway College were ahead by 32 points to 25.

Nichula Liyanage with 21 points and Rajin Fernando 20 played outstandingly for Gateway College.

For D.S. Senanayake the best shooters were Vishwa Fernandp 22 points and Pruvithi Heenatigaka 8. (BM)
