Isipathana rugby to go green
View(s):Isipathana College Colombo who make rugby their pride now introduce the “Green Concept” as they scrum down in 2013 with a new partner Lumiére Textile Limited. The sponsors hope to use the Brand Image “Pathana” to deliver a message for preserving the environment for future generations.
Lumiere will partner to sponsor Isipathana rugby this season.
They intend to spread the environment friendly gospel. The team will refrain from using plastic bottles as well as use transport that will emit less carbon.
Rugby a passion in the Pathana Culture known as Green Power will be used to make the sporting pursuits a little greener was how the Principal of the school A.C. Perera introduced the new partnership. He said the school was all green with vegetation encouraged in and around and children are project leaders.
The schools which started as Greenlands 61 years ago embraces Green as they continue to contribute to school as well as national rugby. Though they have dominated and contributed to Rugby they do not have a ground to call their own. Last year they were deprived of the Havelocks Grounds which was closed for maintenance. Yet Pathana showed their class opined Principal Perera. They believe the Government has focussed their attention to help the school with a ground and the efforts will bear fruit soon.
Isipathana will be led by Uditha Prematilleke and will have the services of twelve coloursman. They will be coached by Shamly Nawaz with Bandula Maillikararchi as the Back Division Coach; Last year they won the League as well as the Knockout competitions.
