Natasha sets Chundikuli Girls’ College putt shot record
View(s):Hannah Natasha Hariharan of Hophen Gartner House set the grounds ablaze with a record-breaking throw in the Under 19 Putt Shot event of the Inter House Athletics Meet of Chundikuli Girls’ College, Jaffna, held last Saturday.
She threw a distance of eight metres, which was a significant improvement on the1988 record of 7.67 meters, set by J. Pratheepa.
Several athletes stamped their class on the meet with two track records being established in the 100m hurdles, in the Under 15 age group, with R. Roxshana of Good Child House setting a new ground record with a time of 21.5sec and in the Under 17 bracket with the 4X100m relay team of Hophen Gartner House scorching to victory in 1min 1.6secs.
The title of Outstanding Athlete of the Meet was awarded to G. Kasthuria of Carter House for finishing first in 100 meters and 100 meters hurdles. The individual championships were won by G. Kasthuria (Carter) and J. Brintha (Good Child) in the Under 19 age 
category, R. Andrea (Good Child) and B. Inthuja (Hophen Gartner) for the Under 17 category, T. Thevapriya (Good Child) in the Under 15 category, J. Tharaniya (Good Child) Under13 category and Y. Uvatharshini (Page) in the Under 12 category.
Good Child House were the runaway winners of the House Championship with 426 points. The runners-up were Page House with 374 points. Hophen Gartner and Carter House occupied the third and fourth slots.
The Chief Guest at the meet was Dr. N. Ethirveerasingam, an Old Boy of Jaffna Central College and a former star international athlete.
