Big match fever in the hill country

Not withstanding the early start to the Inter-School rugby season, March is traditionally the month of the Big Matches.
The Trinity-Anthonian kicks off at Katugastota on March 8 and 9. On the same dates, Vidyartha taken on St. Sylvester’s at the Asgiriya Stadium.
The one dayers between these two schools will take place on March 16 and 17 with the Lions and Eagles getting preference.
The Dharmaraja-Kingswood match will get underway on March 22 and will continue on March 23. Asgiriya will be the venue here again. The limited over game will be played on March 31.
All these games, barring the first, have been shifted to Asgiriya as the Pallekelle Stadium is being readied for the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh ODI and the T20 on March 28 and 31.
There is some to-ing and fro-ing by Sri Rahula and Ranabima regarding their recently started Big Match. One hopes wiser counsel will prevail in both camps.
Meanwhile the one day big match between Azhar Central and Madeena Central which ended in unruly scenes last year is in doubt. One of the Principals told this writer that it will not be played till tempers cool. – AK
