Ravi Punchihewa CA to tour India

The Under 13 cricket team of Ravi Punchihewa Cricket Academy RPCA) will take wing to India today (January 1) to take part in the Raj Residency Trophy T/20 Cricket Tournament to be workedoff at the Egmore Stadium in Chennai. The competition will draw to aclose on January 7, 2012.

Twelve teams will take part in the competition which is organized and conducted by T.V.K. Industries, Chennai for the third time. The Ravi Punchihewa CA team will be led by M. Sharman of Greenwood International School, Matale with M. Shouib of Royal English School Matale as his deputy.
The batting will depend on the skipper, vice captain and three other all-rounders – M. Amanullah, Kushan Liyanarachchi and Gimhan Fernando.

The bowling will be spearheaded left arm medium pacer Chanaka Rajapakse alongwith spinners S. Chandramohan and Dilshan Kumar. Matale RPCA junior cricketers have shown their capabilities in six previous tours to India and are no doubt looking for similar success on this tour, which is the seventh in the series.

All these overseas tours are a part of RPCA’s training programme to groom players in sportsmanship and leadership.Every member of the tour party will be given the opportunity to participate.
