Nightriders to invade Colombo Colombo Night Race 2011

It’s going to be two days of thrills, spills and entertainment for the local and foreign motor enthusiasts when the first ever Colombo Night Race 2011 gets into action on December 16 and 17 opposite Galadari Hotel just adjoining the picturesque Galle Face Green.

The Colombo Night Race is a concept mooted by Electric Peacock Festival and jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports Association (SLAS) the governing body of motor sports in Sri Lanka along with the Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka (FMSSL) plus member racing clubs and the Red Cherry Entertainment.

The city of Colombo around Galadari Hotel and the Galle Face Green are busy as a bee with the organizers and the people involved in making this a success, making preparations to conduct this mega event.

The schedule for the first day will be the Electric Peacock Festival organized by the Red Cherry Entertainment along the Galle Buck Lighthouse and Chaitiya Road. They have planned a series of events which will be held in Sri Lanka for the first time.It will feature so many events like mini quad bike tracks, gaming zones, skateboard ramps and bmx’ing rings. The side walks, parks and alleyways will be converted into entertainment zones.

The event is no doubt going to unique to the spectators who will be coming to witness as the organizers along with the officials of Electric Peacock Festival are making elaborate arrangements to conduct this in a carnival atmosphere.

According to sources there will be live art installations, theatrical performers with the addition of well known names in the DJ field, so two days of electric fun is assured for those who are fortunate to be a part of this unique event.

Competition wise there is no doubt that this is also going to something unique for the drivers and riders who will have the fortune to take part. The organizers are looking forward to attract international participants and also will give an opportunity to motor racing fanatics to experience something special.
Some of the leading drivers and riders in Sri Lanka have confirmed their participation.

The spectators will get an opportunity to see a variety range of cars on display like Lamborghini Diablo, Mosler MT900, Aston Martin, Porsche 911 Carrera along with Subaru Impreza STI, Mitsubishi Evo, Ford Laser, Nissan March, Honda Civic SIR the world famous Morris Mini Minor and Formula Ford.

Tickets for the musical stand are priced at Rs. 2000 for general admission and Rs. 4,000 for VIP. The organizers have made many spectator entrances for ticket holders from Rs. 100 to Rs. 4.000.
