Dancing through the years

By Shalomi Daniel

Those who made it to the Lionel Wendt on August 20 and 21, 2011 were treated to a perfect treat of entertaining dances, engaging music, dazzling costumes and a perfectly good time, as Kanthi Ranchigoda’s ‘Dance Works Centre’ presented ‘Step by step.’

‘Step by step’ which was a blend of all the concerts that Kanthi had held during her 30 years of teaching included a combination of various dance styles from the 80s, 90s, and the millennium and ranging from jazz to hip hop to ballet.

The performance which proved to be a huge success drew both the young and old and had in its audience several prominent personalities.

The smooth running of every detail of the show from the dances to backstage was witness to the hard work, dedication and discipline put in by Kanthi Ranchigoda and her team of dancers and backstage crew. The proceeds from ‘Step by step’ were in aid of Society for Uplift and Rehabilitation of Leprosy Patients (SUROL).
