Ragama CC outclass Moratuwa SC by innings with a day to spare

Ragama CC outclassed Moratuwa SC by an innings and 130 runs with a day to spare in their Under 23 Division One cricket encounter concluded at the NCC grounds yesterday. The win was initiated on day one by right arm pacie Lahiru Jayaratne and right hand batsman Dananjaya Maduranga. Lahiru who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 24 helped his side bundle out Moratuwa SC for a meager 46 while Dananjaya made an unbeaten 137 enabling his side end day one making a formidable 335 for 8.

Chilaw Marians was in a strong position against SSC in their match played at the SSC grounds. The Marians having made 375 for 8 on the opening day with Buddi Samarawickrema making a top score of 125 made a declaration when play began on day two yesterday. SSC in their turn were in deep trouble as they were struggling on 93 for 5 at lunch but managed to recover and make a respectable score of 243 thanks to half tons from Dasun Shanaka, Dinusha Fernando and Mithun Jayawickrema. Marians batting the second time going in for quick runs ended the day on 77 for 5 and now they have a lead of 209 runs with three wickets in hand.

Right arm spinner Cameron Boyce, Shehan Fernando and Pulina Tharanga helped Tamil Union to come out on top against Sebastianites at the end of the second days play in the match played at the P. Sara Stadium.

Moors have already obtained a first inning lead over NCC when play stopped on day two in the match played at Braybrooke Place. Moors after bowling out NCC for 180 resuming on their overnight score of 116 for 5 went on to make 193. NCC batting the second time made 208 leaving Moors a target of 196 runs for victory. Leo CC too have obtained a first inning lead over fancied Colts in the match played at the Colts grounds. Leo CC taking first lease of the wicket made 205 and then restricted the home to a score of 179.
