Days Gone By At……………. Wycherley

I can remember it with amazing clarity; it was the greatest moment in my life when I was blessed with the opportunity to attend Wycherley International School.

When I was thirteen I stepped into Wycherley, which was not just a place to study in but also a place to experience new things. The best thing about Wycherley which impressed me was the atmosphere and its homely environment. I've met some of the nicest people here who include my teachers, my school - mates and above all our Principal Mr. Kingsley Jayasinghe - the person who has been extremely supportive and who guided me throughout my career at the High School.

The most valuable thing at Wycherley is the way things are taught. We were given the opportunity to express our ideas and be creative, while being guided by qualified teachers who are always at hand to give advice. They definitely showed great interest in helping me, using their potential to draw out the fullest in me, which was fantastic.

This is how I was able to achieve 8 A grades at my Cambridge O/Level examination, obtaining the best result in the school that year (2008). In addition, I was awarded a prize by the University of Cambridge International Examinations Awards Ceremony in November 2008. Thereafter I achieved 3A grades and 1B grade at the Cambridge A/level examination (Maths group) in May 2010. I also achieved the highest mark in Sri Lanka for Computing at the A/S level examination and was awarded a prize at the Cambridge Awards ceremony in 2009.

IF NOT FOR WYCHERLEY AS A WHOLE, this would not have been possible. Now I know, I made the right choice in joining Wycherley. My life at Wycherley has been very colourful not only academically but also the lifetime friends I've made; people who are now my best mates, the extraordinary trips we've attended, the crazy games we've played and the charity work we've carried out. Also, I will never forget the memories we had when we participated at our Annual Sports Meets, Swimming Meets and Cultural Days which were appreciated and applauded by everyone in school and outside.

Joining a variety of clubs and societies at school, helped me to learn more about leadership, responsibility, creativity and other vital qualities, needed to mould me in to a well rounded and better personality. Participating in many extra-curricular activities alongside with my academic work during the years I've spent at Wycherley gave me the chance of experiencing real student life - a life style I will always cherish. I really miss the good times I had when I was there.

No matter what happens, life has to go on. I personally believe that I have already gained enough knowledge at Wycherley and am no longer afraid to pursue further studies. Now that, I have been offered a place at Curtin University of Technology- the largest leading University in Western Australia, I will be joining its campus, based in Singapore, for my degree.

I look forward very much to furthering my education having gained so much knowledge and confidence at Wycherley and am extremely confident that I will come out with flying colours. In doing so, I will no doubt make my 'alma mater' proud.

"Wycherley!" I will always be grateful and indebted to this wonderful institution for all that I am. Wycherley is the pattern maker of my goals. I pray that Wycherley will grow from strength to strength in the years to come.
