The past year has been an exciting one for this slender beauty who wears the crown of Miss Sri Lanka. Ishanka Madurasinghe represented Sri Lanka at the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas in August last year and in this photospread by Thilak Seneviratne, she models some of the outfits created for her by Sanchia Pvt Ltd as part of her official wardrobe as a beauty queen and also the national costume which was created by Maheshika Narangoda.
“It was inspired by the beauty of the peacock and a poem by Rabindranath Tagore,” says Maheshika, quoting a few lines … “My heart is like a peacock on a rainy day, spreads its plumes tinged with rapturous colours of thoughts.....”
The made-up Kandyan saree is in a fusion of colours such as turquise blue, emerald green and dull gold. Embellished with finest brocade appliqué and rhinestones along with an intricate thread, Maheshika used tie and dye, raw silk and fine net in this creation.
