Adding tea and coffee to her canvas of colour

French-speaking Dutch artist, Jeanne Geubbels – Denissen will show her recent work at the Alliance Française in Colombo from November 19 to 22. On display will be paintings done in oils, experimental aquarelles, washed charcoals and a few ‘teaworks’.

Jeanne Geubbels Denissen

Since December 2009 she and her husband have made their home in Wattala. Jeanne has been travelling all over the world for almost 30 years and has lived in countries including Jordan, N-Yemen, Algeria, Angola, Aruba, Indonesia, Tanzania and South Africa.

She has experienced many different cultures and is glad she has the opportunity to express her feelings in her paintings.

Her experiments with coffee and tea arose when in the past there was a lack of quality art materials available in the country. This work is covered by a special natural layer which gives her work a crackle-effect.
