Ismeth and Rohana advance to the final

All Island Lanka Plate Snooker

Anil Rohana of Carlton BC and M.R. Ismeth of Automobile AC (AAC) advanced to the final of the All Island Lanka Plate Snooker Championship.

In the semi final encounters Ismeth defeated A.H. Manorjan of MSC while Rohana too overcame a cueist from MSC in veteran S.M. Shaharwardie. Ismeth had an easy passage when he coasted to an easy three frames to nil in the final frame game while Rohana though conceding the first frame came back to take the second, third and fourth frames to clinch the match.

The seven frame final encounter between the two cueists was scheduled to be cued off at 4.00 p.m. The top eight cueists of the All Island Lanka Plate championship will now contest in the national snooker championships along with the 24 national ranked players which is due to start in early November.

Results:

Quarter Finals – A.H. Manorjan (MSC) beat H.S. Tillekeratne (YMBA) 3/0 (50/46, 71/48, 54/47). M.R. Ismeth (AAC) beat T. Samarasinghe (OAC) 3/2 (04/42, 23/61, 62/14, 71/27, 63/55). Anil Rohana (Carlton BC) beat Abdul Sattar (MSC) 3/1 (71/70, 48/32, 24/66, 42/32). S.M. Shaharwardie (MSC) beat A. Karunaratne (OAC) 3/2 (48/26, 29/68, 35/86, 61/49, 42/27).

Semi Finals – M.R. Ismeth (AAC) beat A.H. Manorjan (MSC) 3/0 (52/23, 51/29, 39/13). Anil Rohana (Carlton BC) beat S.M. Shaharwardie (MSC) 3/1 (14/69, 63/23, 59/46, 84/24).
