Gunner Supercross at Minneriya today

The Gunner Supercross, a key event in the island’s motor sports calendar will take place today at the Sri Lanka Army’s Artillery Complex in Minneriya.

The Minneriya racing circuit is a uniquely constructed gravel track promising an aura of excitement combined with the spills and thrills of motor racing.

Environmental Resources Investment PLC (ERI) and Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CLPL) are the sponsors of this event. The event is organized by the Sri Lanka Army’s Artillery Regiment (popularly known as the Gunners) in association with the SLARDAR.

The proceeds of the 5th Gunner Supercross will be utilized to uplift the standard of kith and kin of those who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland and endured injuries in the battlefield, their families, the serving members of the Artillery Regiment and valiant members departed due to other causes attributable to military service.

The proceeds generated will also be utilized to engage in social welfare projects to uplift the living standards of the residents of Thamankaduwa region in the North Central Province.
