Millennium touch for the ‘Chimes of 70s’

The latest song ‘Ma Sitiyath Thaniwee’ of the band ‘Chimes Of the 70’s’ was released last week. The melody and the music of the song is by Rukshan Karunanayake and it is sung by Nirmani Rathnasekara, the female vocalist of the band.

With their latest song ‘Ma Sitiyath Thaniwee’, the boys have created few songs to their credit. The Chimes of the 70’s band is getting ready to release their maiden album in the mid year under their own record label ‘Udeshan’.

The line up of the Chimes of the 70’s is Rukshan Karunanayake (Leader), Sohan Anuhas, Dilshan Wijesekara, Chamara Jayarathne, Chaminda Pushpakumara, Isura Roshan (Lead Singer), Udeshan Karunanayake (Child Drummer), Roshan Jayawardena (Vocalist), Nirmani Rathnasekera (Female Vocalist)and Vindya Peiris (Female Vocalist).

 Isura Roshan, Nirmani Rathnasekara, Vindya Peiris, Roshan Jayawardena, Osanda Gamage will be vocalizing while their leader Rukshan Karunanayake is comwposing the melodies and directing music for the entire album. Also the 8 years old child drummer, Udeshan Karunanayake will also be playing drums for some of the tracks in the album.

Their new studio, ‘Studio Udeshan’, which completed in last October with the latest modern recording technology. Facilities are available there for orchestral and band recordings. Initially 3 songs were recorded for an album released overseas produced by Nalin Jayawardena (Australia), Dr. Vicumpriya Perera (USA) and Dr. Vicumpriya Perera.

Bhadraji Mahinda Jayathilake composed the melodies. Music directions were done by Rukshan Karunanayake while Bhadraji Mahinda Jayathilake, Isura Roshan and Osanda Gamage did vocals. Also a song titled ‘Kiyu Kavi Gee’ was sung by talented singer Nalin Jayawardena who is residing in Australia for his CD titled “Weli Etayak’.

 This year, the boys planning to hold a musical concert titled ‘Supper Concert’ featuring all original compositions and some 70’s pop artistes.

‘40 new original songs will be our aim to promote them among the public. Also we are planning to give out a new musical experience with our ‘ Super Concert’while remembering the 70’s pop musical style introduced by late great Clarence Wijewardene’ Rukshan said.
