Hameed Al Husseinie celebrates 125 years

Hameed Al Husseinie MV Colombo will be celebrating 125 years of existence. To mark the occasion the Group of 80’s of the school have planned to conduct an all island inter-schools invitation football tournament.

The tournament involving 16 teams around the island is scheduled to be held from January 3 to 11 at the Sugathadasa Stadium. The school founded in the year 1884 has had four changes in its name starting with Madrasathul Khairiyathul Islamia.

It was changed to Madsrathul Hameedia in 1901 and renamed Hameediah Boys English School and then amalgamated as Husseine MV before being renamed to the present name.

The players from the school who represented the Sri Lanka schools team will also be felicitated and presented with special awards.

Teams participating: Ananda, Maris Stella, DSS, Dharmarajah, Hameed Al Husseinie, Dharmapala, Hindu Bambalapitiya, De Mazenod, Isipathana, St Benedict’s, St Thomas Matara, Lumbini, Wesley, Holy Cross Kalutara, Zahira Maradana, Royal Kurunegala.
