Award winning teledrama director Chandana Hewapathirana's latest miniplay 'Sihina Pawura' revolving round the life of a young couple, is now being telecast every Wednesday at 7.30 pm on Rupavahini.
Nominated for eight awards at the State Teledrama Festival-2007 (his last teledrama 'Hit Wicket'), director Chandana is well known for his interesting scripts and screenplays.
Starring Ashen Manjula, Anton Jude, Anjula Buduwatta, Hemantha Iriyagama, Chamila Peiris, Niroshan Ileperuma, Sithara Pavithrani, Dayana Samanmalee, Musum Perera, Ranjith Rubasinghe and Sandamalee Anuradhanayake in the stellar cast, 'Sihina Pawuru' is produced by Peter Russel, Julian Davis and Chandana himself. Chandula and Wasundara are a young couple. Though Wasundara is longing to have a child and to be a mother, Chandula wants to postpone it.
Yet the young husband suspects Wasundara of having an affair with the electricity metre reader and Hemantha, a neighbour. Worried about this he makes various plots to prove his suspicion. At times he secretly observes Wasundara's movements or returns at unexpected hours from his office. He regularly quarrels with her over this and it results in Wasundara leaving home. Later he brings her back apologizing for what he did. At times he quarrels with the metre reader and Hemantha. And at last Chandula keeps Wasundara under house arrest. 'Sihina Pawura' reaches the climax with an unexpected end which makes us realize that neither Chandula nor Wasundara are responsible for their estranged married life.
Behind the screen, production executive is Sammani Hewapathirana, music directed by Kapila Pugalarachchi, camera Sanjeewa Kumara and edited by Udaya Samaratunga. Make up by Priyantha Eswara and art director is Sumathi Kudaligama.
