‘V. N. Mathialagan Sollum Seithikal’, a reference book authored by former Deputy Director General of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC)—V.N. Mathialagan—has been approved by the University of Jaffna as one of the reference textbooks for media studies graduate students.

Media Studies Faculty Head Prof. C. Raguram said the faculty accepted the book entitled ‘V. N. Mathialagan Sollum Seithikal’ in its undergraduate syllabus for Radio Production and Presentation through the lesson unit CMC 32013—for the General Degree and CMCH 31023—for the Honours Degree. 

This announcement about the approval of his book came out during the year V.N. Mathialagan, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his career in the media field.

V.N. Mathialagan was the first officially selected Tamil news reader in the history of Sri Lankan telecasting.

Before gaining experience in the news section of TV and Radio, he served on the editorial board of ‘Thinapathi,’ and ‘Chinthaamani’ newspapers, and also gained experience as the News and Current Affairs Producer at SLBC. He has also been a news media consultant for a Canadian broadcasting station as well.

Professional experts had already accepted ‘V. N. Mathialagan Sollum Seithikal’ as the first reference text in the history of
Sri Lankan Audio–Visual Broadcasting.
