St. Peter’s rout Ananda
Right-hand top order batsman Vishen Halambage scored a commanding knock of 141 runs to help St. Peter’s College amass 336-3, which enabled his side to overcome Ananda College by a healthy margin of 190 runs in an Inter-School Under-19 Division I 50-over cricket match played at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
Put into bat first, the Peterites piled up 336 for 3 in their allotted 50 overs, with Halambage top scoring and three fine knocks from Oween Salgado (80), Sanshay Gunathilake (52n.o.) and Nimuthu Gunawardana (51n.o). Ananda were skittled out for 146 with 93 deliveries to spare.
At Dombagoda, Royal recorded a convincing 7-wicket win against hosts Mahanama after Uvindu Weerasekara guided his side with an unbeaten 108. He was well supported by Dasis Manchanayake, who also remained unbeaten on 40 when Royal reached the winning post.
Zahira managed to restrict St. Anthony’s Wattala four runs short of the target and record a thrilling win by three runs in their match played at Maradana.
