The halted 30th Mercantile Sector Basketball Tournament will be revived and will resume tomorrow evening after a hiatus of at least two and a half years at the Royal College Sports Complex. The revival will see games for both the genders; six divisions of five teams each for men and two for women.

Matches would be during working days, at 6.00pm in the evening, first game and, the other at 8.00pm. The tournament will kick off with the men’s E and F divisions to run until October 3. This would be followed by C and D of the same gender and switching to women’s A and B. Finally, A and B of the men’s too will be hosted.

Organisers said they had to relocate it from Henry Pedris, where it used to be held, to the indoor courts, citing mainly weather along with safety reasons. When it came to a grinding halt in 2019, due to Covid-19 and weather, as many as 50 teams for men’s alone playing. However, the return would see only thirty teams and the entire tournament will run until the first week of November.
