The Presidential Secretariat will be fully operational from tomorrow after more than three months, a senior official said yesterday.

Cleaning up and repairs were being carried out to doors and windows damaged during the occupation by protesters in parts of the building.

Meanwhile, a specialised squad of crime scene and fingerprint officers has been established under the direction of the SSP Colombo Central to gather evidence of any crimes committed at the Presidential Secretariat premises, Police spokesman Nihal Thalduwa said yesterday.

On July 9, demonstrators invaded the Presidential Secretariat.

“The Fort Police Station is conducting additional inquiries, and forensic evidence will be collected in the Presidential Secretariat by Scene-of-Crime Officers (SOCO) and special fingerprint investigation officers,” SSP Thalduwa said.
