Just imagine what a disaster it would be if the patient does not return to his normal senses. Likewise, there are instances that a person can get into a coma due to a critical accident. In case a harsh preservative is used excessively, it has the ability to destroy the original purpose of that particular product even though it might be able to serve a secondary purpose such as preserving the product.
‘Passion’ as commonly defined is a strong and barely controllable emotion. Even though the definition says it is uncontrollable, it is quite visible that people who were once so passionate about something, act as though they know nothing about it during another phase in life. If ‘passion’ is not fueled constantly, it will always fade away and eventually it will be disconnected from one’s soul.
Dreams will remain dreams if they are not driven passionately. Passion could either head towards a good cause or a bad cause. Even terrorists are passionate towards a cause. You cannot say that a suicide bomber has no passion.
I also had dreams when I was a serious drug addict, those dreams were anesthetized until I recovered from the menace of my addiction. My blind passion to get high on drugs was way above the passion I had towards leading happy life goals. A person can be passionate towards multiple desires at the same time.
Certain passions can lead you towards destruction. A person who is passionate about food might end up becoming a glutton. Sleep is essential for every human being, yet, if a person is passionate towards sleeping he will certainly end up being a lazy man. Therefore, we must be very careful in identifying our emotions which might be strong and barely controllable. The passion within us may be developing things that are detrimental to ourselves.
Many people have told me that they have lost their craving or the passion they had towards something sometime ago. They also mention that they don’t feel the same yearning or enthusiasm anymore as their lives are lukewarm.
This is exactly what I meant by anesthetization of passion, you no longer possess the same passion you once had within you. Let me walk you through a process of diagnosis that reveals the anesthetics within you so that you and your children will be able to overcome this syndrome.
One of the main reasons a person might lose his passion is to allow the external heat of life to steal away his passion.
There is no doubt that we all have to go through a variety of fiery problems every now and then. The problem lies is in allowing those fiery problems to completely burn your passion. People who have achieved their dreams are people who have extinguished those fiery problems by means of the passion within them.
There are only two things that can take place in your journey towards fulfilling your dreams.
You either burn your passion or extinguish the fires in life through your passion. Which category do you belong to? If you are a part of the first category, do not worry, I was also in the identical boat twenty years ago. Instead of letting your passion be anesthetized by the external heat of life, why not anesthetize the heat of life through your passion.
A plant that bears fruit is a plant that has been nourished all throughout. It is worthless to water a dead plant. Therefore, be very protective about your passions.
Though we wear a helmet to ride a bicycle and put down our mosquito nets before we sleep, many of us do not pay adequate attention to safeguard our cravings or our passions, knowing very little that it could easily be anesthetized by external barriers, challenges and issues.
If you have allowed your passion to be unconscious due to the challenges you face in life, then today is the day that you must regain consciousness and give rebirth to your passion before it fades away within you.
Another aspect that can anesthetize your passion is your wavering and uncertain mind which is not domesticated to be attentive.
You are a passionate lover to your wife until the moment you come across a beautiful woman in the neighborhood who seems to distract your focus on the precious love that you once had towards your wife. If you fall into this category, then you must vehemently prioritise the values in your life and maintain your focus on them unwaveringly even though the temporary pleasures may be persuasive.
The world is distinctly aware that temporary pleasures lead towards destruction. Yet, it constantly craves for it, just as a crow is tempted towards a dead rat. Passion and focus complement each other like a bulb and electricity, the bulb would not work without electricity.
Sustaining your focus from the time you wake up in the morning until you lay your head on a pillow at night is crucial, if you are not attentive, thieves may steal your passion from you.
Another reason that might anesthetize your passion is the fear of failure which the root cause is fear of rejection.
The reason that people are so afraid to fail is that they fear rejection in case they fail. It is of paramount importance to analyse the risk factors, yet it is equally important that you step in courageously, foregoing other people’s opinion about you in case you fail.
With the experience I have gained I have come to realise that it is healthier to be rejected by fake lovers so that you gain the blessing of being able to filter the real relationships that you ought to maintain in your life.
Those who are truly in love with you, will love you regardless of the things you do not possess. My father was with me even when I had nothing and when I was admitted to three mental hospitals. My wife said yes to me when I didn’t even have a job. Therefore, do not tag after grabbing the attention of the people who like you for what you have and not for who you are. Do not allow the fear of rejection to anesthetize your passion towards becoming a fruitful individual who has the ability to spread happiness amongst others.
The base of your motivation is yet another crucial sector that kills your passion. Is your passion self motivated or motivated by others? Just as the fear of rejection, if your passion is aroused by the motivation of the external sources, it holds a very high possibility of fading away as the external environment is ever changing. But if you are motivated from within you, you will certainly be pushed forward even amidst rejection.
It is generally alright to obtain the seed of passion from a day to day occurrence.
However, you must understand that the impact and effect of a situation will surely fade away when more imperative incidents take control of your life. Just think for a moment, how many of our sad and angry emotions have faded away the moment we encounter a greater emotion.
At present, we Sri Lankans are greatly pathetic towards a fellow countryman who was brutally attacked and burnt to death in Pakistan. The reality in life is that the moment you encounter your own struggles, these incidents will certainly be forgotten just as every other previous incident. An occurrence can definitely arouse hunger towards a worthy cause, yet it will never be sustained until it is fueled continuously.
Another instance that passion anesthetizes you is the moment passion is born of egocentric emotions and not out of love and carecentric emotions. Anyone can easily be passionate based on his ego. A country does not battle with another country just because that little land that they are fighting is so important to them, they fight because of their supreme ego.
The world has undergone brutal wars as a result of the ego of leadership. Families have scattered because of ego. Children have lost their parents because of the ego of their parents. Hence, it is important to know what drives our passion, is it Ego or Love?
