Students who have successfully completed their GCE Advanced Level examination can stake claim to an interest free loan from the Ministry of Higher Education and pursue the globally acclaimed BSc. Applied Accounting Special Degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).

The interest free loan will be granted to students who have successfully completed the GCE Advanced Level exam but were not selected to a State University based on their respective Z-score. The interest free student loan is granted for students who wish to pursue the four year-long BSc. Applied Accounting Special Degree awarded by CA Sri Lanka, which is also approved by the University Grants Commission.

The interest free student loan scheme is open for students who qualified at the GCE Advanced Level exams held in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Students must have obtained a minimum of three simple passes at the GCE Advanced Level exam for all three subjects in one sitting and not exceeding three sittings, and a minimum of 30 marks for the Common General Test to be eligible for the interest free loan.

CA Sri Lanka is among a handful of higher educational institutes recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and the University Grants Commission enjoying the interest free loan scheme facility.

The CA Sri Lanka BSc. Applied Accounting Degree, recognised by both the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Higher Education, is globally recognised and equivalent to the degrees offered by State Universities in Sri Lanka. CA Sri Lanka is also listed as a Member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

The duration for the BSc. Applied Accounting Special Degree is conducted over a period of four years with eight semesters. Students also have the advantage of gaining industry exposure during the degree programme through internship and job placement opportunities at reputed companies in Sri Lanka after completing 2 years of the degree.

Graduates of the BSc. Applied Accounting Degree, who have completed the four-year special degree, can fast track their way and become Chartered Accountants by completing only the Strategic Level in the CA
Sri Lanka Curriculum, while enjoying exemptions for 12 subjects out of a total of 17 subjects (exemptions from 8 subjects from Business Level and 4 subjects from Corporate level) and simultaneously obtain an academic qualification and a professional qualification in Accounting. Meanwhile, graduates of the CA Sri Lanka BSc. Applied Accounting degree are also eligible to obtain exemptions from CIMA, ACCA and CPA Australia.
