4 Rotaract projects into World Finals

Rotaract – the youth arm of Rotary, which has around 7800 members in Sri Lanka with almost sixty percent of them being University students has completed 62 signature projects this year related to Covid-19 in the area of ‘ Economic Development said the District Rotaract Representative Kasun Segera. I am happy to state that 4 of them has topped the South Asian outstanding projects baskets and nominated for the Global award by Rotary International which is a big win for Sri Lanka he said.
The significance of this year was that under the District Governor for Sri Lanka and Maldives Ajith Weerasinghe, the able talent of over 15,000 people were focussed to ‘Stopping the Spread’ of the deadly decease Covid-19. The Interactors was focussed to the ‘ two step communication’ campaign with 280 Olympic, Asian and South Asian athletes that drove attitude change in the school and immediate communities around school going children. The Rotaractors did a more depth project linking 62 economic development projects valued at over 400 million rupees said Dr Rohantha Athukorala the Youth Service Chairman for Rotary Sri Lanka & Maldives.
The shortlisted projects that has made it to the global finals of Rotary International are The Rotaract Club of Informatics Institute of Technology – Project E- Mithudama, Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya’s flagship project : Project Track The Spread, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa signature project : Manusath Handa and Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University – Project See Lanka which was focussed to Tourism said the communique by Rotary Sri Lanka & Maldives.
