Last week the Government announced its decision to continue to get the support of State television channels in covering up syllabuses in schools.

Accordingly the programme ‘Gurugedera’ which was used to educate children during the outbreak of COVID-19 last year will continue on State TV channels an Education Ministry official said. A television programme designed by the  National Institute of Education  (NIE) was telecasted via the Eye Channel and the ‘Nethra’ channel of the State owned Rupawahini Corporation. This programme was for students who sat the national exams last year.

Learning and teaching programmes were conducted daily for students who were sitting the  grade five scholarship exams, the GCE O/L and the GCE A/Lexams.

Also the syllabi of the grade three to nine classes were telecast on the same channels when there was a delay in re-opening up schools for the third term in November 2020.
