Hindu Ladies College student honoured with award at Chennai art exhibition

Kedarini Bhaskara, a student of Colombo Hindu Ladies College, received an award at an art exhibition held at Chennai in Tamil Nadu and brought honor to our country.

In the exhibition, artists from the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra were showcased along with Sri Lankan artist Kedarini.

The award ceremony was held at Mysoor Mahal in Chennai, and poet Jamaldeen, poet M. Metha, Indian Muslim League M. F. Janab Nawazgani, poet Sornabarathi, Amir Abbas, Tamil Maran, Pakhrudeen, Ramnad District Kamban Association President Sundararajan, Police Commissioner Mrs. Jeyamani, Jaliba and a number of other local government councilors took part in the function.

At another ceremony at the Kamban Association of Ramnad District, headed by Association President Mr. Sundararajan, Kedarini was honoured and awarded with a shield.

Kedarani and hundreds of other school students were honoured at a another function headed by the Tanjore Karanthai Tamil Association President. Professor Rajamani Ammal and poet Thirunavukkarasu took part in this ceremony.

In Pondicherry, Kedarini was wished by several diplomats at a function held at Pondicherry Tamil Association. The ceremony was headed by Association President Mr. Balasubramaniam.

A member of the Mumbai Pen Friends Association honoured Kedarini at the Association’s head quarters. This ceremony was headed by the Association’s President Mr. Karun.

At Tirupathi, an exhibition was held in Hotel Kences. Tirupathi Television Director took part and the exhibition was telecast over Raj TV with best wishes from several people.

Another exhibition was held at Tirupathi Venkateshwara Temple Television Service Centre and was presided by the Director Sumarar. The exhibition was telecast on Tirupathi Television channel, with an interview with Kedarini.
