8th Sri Lanka Chess Grand Prix 2021 begins

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) started board Chess after the second wave of COVID-19 January 28 with the 8th Sri Lanka Grand Prix to be started at CFSL Headquarters in Nugegoda. Twelve top Chess players including three national players and national amateur chess champion have been registered to play at this major event. The CFSL will offer Rs. 110,000/- as cash awards while trophies and medals will be given to the winners.

The event will be conducted in the highest possible technology with live games displayed using DGT Chess Boards. A live streaming will be arranged at the final stage at CFSL Youtube Channel. The event will be played with all the health guidelines and will continue through the weekend of the first week. It will resume from February 4 and will go on until February 7.

The first stage will be a 11-round round robin and then the knockout stage will be played among the top four players afterwards.
