Education sector personnel returning from virus affected countries to be quarantined

Students, teachers and other academic and non-academic staff engaged in the education sector travelling back to Sri Lanka from countries affected by the Coronavirus – including China, South Korea and Italy – will be subjected to 14 days of mandatory quarantine, the Education Ministry announced on Friday.

The Ministry instructed heads of all schools and educational institutions to make such parties aware of the mandatory quarantine order.

The Education Ministry noted that the instructions were being issued in line with a request made by the Health Ministry, which pointed out that over 70 countries were now reporting cases of Covid-19, the disease contracted due to the new Coronavirus. - (SJ)
