Diran Hamer of Royal College, Colombo won the Under-12 Boys Singles title at the Junior National Table Tennis Championship 2019 which was held at the Indoor Courts of S. Thomas’ College in Mt. Lavinia last Sunday.

Maneesha Salindi of Karandeniya Central College and Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo won the main titles at the Junior National Table Tennis Championship in 2019 held last weekend at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Courts in Mt. Lavinia.

Anandian Senura went on to become the Most Outstanding Boy’s Player of the Tournament while Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College, Kandy won the Girls Category of the Most Outstanding Player.

Senura entered four events and won all of them — the Under-18 and Under-15 Boy’s Singles and Doubles in Under-18 Boy’s and Under-18 Mixed categories. Bimandee too entered four events and won one while emerging runner-up in the remaining three. She won the Under-15 Girls Singles and emerged runner-up in the Under-18 Girl’s Singles, Under 18 Girl’s Doubles and the Under-18 Mixed Doubles.

The two-day tournament was conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka on January 25 and 26 with closer to 450 school paddlers taking part. Kanaka Herath, the State Minister of Ports Development Affairs graced the awards ceremony as the chief guest.
