The Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) has acquired the space used by IESL College of Engineering at Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07, to offer opportunities for students to pursue their higher education in streams outside of engineering.

“The SLTC is stepping in to the spaces operated by the IESL College of Engineering to cater to students from a strong foundation and work ethic personified by the IESL College of Engineering during the last 50 years, through a broader spectrum of study pathways,” SLTC Founder and Chairman Ranjith Rubasinghe said.

The new students will have access to the classrooms, laboratories, infrastructure and other facilities available at the IESL College of Engineering.

The Chairman said this will expand the SLTC’s present capacity and enrich its learning platforms to deliver a diverse and extensive pathway for university students.

Full time, part-time and blended learning opportunities will be offered through SLTC’s Schools of Engineering in technology, business, IT, computing, music, and professional studies.

Set up in 2017 and located on a 37-acre campus in Padukka, the SLTC offers students on-campus housing, libraries and laboratories, indoor and outdoor sports activities, cafeterias and classrooms and more. With this move, the SLTC will now have a large and well-equipped university space in the heart of Colombo.

“The SLTC is fully aware that enhancing and operating through the environment created by IESL College of Engineering, will allow it to deliver a quality platform for students seeking higher education. It will also be flexible with those already in the workforce, who are seeking to reach higher positions in their respective careers,” Mr Rubasinghe said.

He said IESL College of Engineering is the premier professional body in offering engineering degrees, while fostering innovation and creativity to produce leaders who can contribute to the country’s GDP.

“It is vital that we foresee future job requirements and prepare our students to face the future, with the skills and knowledge of a changing professional and commercial landscape,” Mr Rubasinghe added.
