Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology Graduation Ceremony 2018/2019

Most important event in the academic calendar of Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP), the annual CIRP Graduation Ceremony was held on Saturday 18th January 2020 at Mount Lavinia Hotel.

This traditional event celebrates the academic achievements of CIRP’s students who are being awarded qualifications from CIRP an/or Coventry University UK.

This year 270 students graduated with their respective qualifications, varying from Foundation, Diploma, Bachelors, Postgraduate certificate and Postgraduate diploma to Masters degrees. At the event there were over 500 invitees of students, staff of CIRP and over 100 special guests and media bringing the total number of participants to over 600.

Event consisted of traditional processions of graduates and staff, speeches by chief guest – Dr David Wand, Honorary Dean – Dr Ranjith Batuwanthudawe, Dean Research – Dr Thulith Wickrama, Chair of the governing council – Dr Darshan Perera and student representatives followed by a performance by the CIRP choir and refreshments to all participants. Dr Ranjith Batuwanthudawe delivered the welcome speech and declared the commencement of the Graduation ceremony 2018/2019. The Foundation, Diploma, Bachelors, Postgraduate certificate, Postgraduate diploma and Masters degrees were awarded together with Dr Darshan by Dr ThulithaWickrama, Dr Ranjith Batuwanthudawe and Dr David Wand respectively. Another highlighted aspect of the event was the fourteen gold medals awarded by Dr Darshan Perera for Best performances in their respective cohorts.

Later that evening in celebration of all our graduates the Graduation ball ‘Glitter &Glamour‘was held in style at the Hilton Colombo Residences with Exquisite cuisines, renowned DJ and fun photo booths.

The Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology has always focused on actively promoting professional Psychology in Sri Lanka and South Asia. Our Vision and Values have successfully built a strong foundation for students to step forward as qualified professionals into a field with the humanity and modesty needed to secure a mentally healthy and aware nation.As a result of the restructuring CIIHE School of Psychology (CIRP) has established several new academic partnerships over the last few months. While CIRP’s long term academic partner Coventry University will continue as a progression partner, University of Northampton will be the main academic partner for the programme delivered within Sri Lanka under CIIHE.

These strategic changes have paved way to offer a range of combined Psychology programmes with Business, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Counselling, Child Care, Criminology and Sports Science from September 2018 intake which has become very popular among students. Furthermore identifying the trends in the student preferences CIIHE has also established partnerships with several Top Australian and UK Universities including University of Western Australia, Deakin University,Edith Cowen University Flinders University and Anglia Ruskin University.
