Santhul Wiijeyeratne succeeded in displaying rare talent at the annual cricket competition organised by the Sanath Jayasuriya Cricket Academy. He took four wickets in four consecutive balls. Santhul, who is a right-handed spinner is only 10-years of age, excelled both in bowling and batting during the entire competition won the award for the best player in the Under-10 group as well.

Last year Santhul scored a century against the Colombo CCC Cricket Academy and became the youngest player to have scored a century on behalf of the Jayasuriya Academy. Santhul is a student of NalandaVidyalaya in Colombo.

The Annual Cricket Competition of the Sanath Jayasuriya Cricket Academy was held for the ninth occasion. The competition was held under five categories and the finals were played at the Colombo CCC grounds. The Under-8 championship was won by the Dark Horse team, while the Under-10 championship winners were the Riders. The Under-13 championship was won by the Eagles team and the Black Cats became the Under-15 champions.

While Santhul Wijeyeratne became the Best Player in the Under-10 category, the players who became the best cricketers under the other age categories and excelled in the matches included Sadew Kulatilaka, Ranuk Jayasuriya and Tharuksha Ashale. On the final day of matches, a number of players, who represented the Sri Lanka team including Sanath Jayasuriya participated as special guests.
