British historical period drama film ‘Downton Abbey’ directed by Michael Engler will be released in theatre from September 20.

Continuation of the television series of the same name, created by Fellowes, much of the original cast returns, including Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton.

Set in 1927, King George V and Queen Mary visit Downton Abbey, causing a stir among the Crawleys and servants alike. The film depicts the continuing story of the Crawley family, wealthy owners of a large estate in the English countryside in the early 20th century.

Written by Julian Fellowes, the principal photography started in London in late August 2018. Some filming was done at Highclere Castle, Hampshire, which had been the main location for the television series.

‘Downton Abbey’ will be released at Colombo City Centre and other theatres in Colombo and suburbs.
