The Ministry of Education (MoE) last week said it intends to introduce a National Education Act, to raise the quality of Education in the 10,062 schools in the country.
Addressing officials from Education institutions and experts, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawsam said the Act will address a number of issues in the Education sector.
He said the lack of effective regulations has been a damper on quality Education being imparted to the 4.3 million schoolchildren across the country.

“The Act, which is in its draft stage, will be soon passed and implemented,” he said. The event was held at the Waters’ Edge, where officials of the MoE, Exams Department, National Education Commission, Education Publication Department and Higher Education Institutes, along with University professors were present. – CC
